What are the effects? What are the responses?

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is having drastic affects on process automation and control and the many industries and professionals they serve.

And while countless domestic governments, companies and organizations have released statements reassuring customers and constituents of their capabilities to persevere through this pandemic, it is nonetheless triggering shutdowns worldwide.

Process applications like power generation/distribution, water/wastewater, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals have been designated as essential and are allowed to operate, while most mainstream businesses and services have been ordered to close to comply with social distancing, shelter-in-place, self-quarantines and other efforts to restrict human interactions and group sizes, and limit the spread of the disease.
