State of Initiative survey: trends from 2017 lead to changes in 2018

Jan. 30, 2018
Share you perspective on digital transformation.

The 2017 Smart Industry State of Initiative survey showed a marked maturation from skepticism to action across industry, with nearly two-thirds of survey respondents reporting active IIoT roll-outs or pilots. This was exciting to see last year.

Further, the number believing that such technologies will have a “high” or “critical” impact on their businesses had increased from 45% in 2015 to nearly 70% in 2017. This was equally exciting to see.

The most important benefits of digital transformation identified by respondents to our 2017 State of Initiative survey fell into the category of incremental performance improvement, namely increased productivity, reduced costs and optimized asset utilization [see figure].

I am excited to see how these trends are continuing—or changing—in the 2018 State of Initiative survey, which is currently open. I invite you to share your thoughts on your state of digital transformation; in this fourth year of our survey we’re able to study real trends and participants are able to benchmark their efforts against peers.

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete. As a participant, you'll have an exclusive first look at the survey results. You'll also be entered to win one of three $100 gift cards.
